Dryer Error Codes: Samsung, LG and Whirlpool
Dryer codes fall into three families: venting and airflow (the biggest, and a safety matter), door and sensor faults, and heating faults. Samsung and LG both measure vent blockage directly and report it as a percentage-style code. Find your brand below, and treat any airflow code as a prompt to clean the vent, not just to clear the display.

Before You Call Anyone
Safety first on dryers: a blocked vent is a genuine fire risk and it also overheats the machine until fuses open. Clean the lint filter every load, the full vent run at least yearly, and never run a gas dryer with a disconnected vent indoors. Our dryer not heating guide walks the safe checks that sort airflow problems from heat circuit problems.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the most important dryer error code to act on?
Any vent blockage code: Samsung d80 family, LG Flow Sense d80 to d95, Whirlpool AF. They mean the vent is restricted, which is both a fire risk and the root cause of most dryer failures.
Why do Samsung and LG both use d80?
Both brands report vent blockage in steps: the number rises with severity. The response is identical: clean the whole vent path from the dryer outlet to the outside hood.
My dryer has no code but does not heat. Where do I start?
Use our dryer not heating guide: breaker first on electric models, then settings, then venting, before any parts.
