LG Washer Error Codes: The Full List

LG washers use two-letter codes, and two of them cause constant confusion: uE means the washer is fixing an imbalance itself, while UE means it tried and failed. Find your code below, read the plain meaning, and follow the full guide for ranked causes and safe checks.

Before You Call Anyone

LG front loaders reward one habit above all others: cleaning the drain pump filter behind the bottom front flap. It is the first check for OE and prevents many other faults. For LE, resist the urge to assume the motor has died: overloads and excess detergent trigger it on healthy machines, and the unplug reset in our LE guide sorts the real faults from the false alarms.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between uE and UE on LG washers?

uE (lowercase u) means the washer detected an imbalance and is actively correcting it. UE means correction failed and the spin was cancelled, so you need to redistribute the load.

What does OE mean on an LG washer?

OE is the drain code: water did not leave the tub in time. Clean the pump filter first, then check the drain hose and standpipe.

Are LG error codes the same on top load and front load models?

The meanings are the same, but the likely causes differ: front loaders have a user pump filter and top loaders do not, so the first checks differ by type. Each of our guides notes both.
